Frequently Asked Questions

A few things you may want to know before we begin working together

What type of weddings do you specialise in?

I specialise in bespoke destination weddings and celebrations, working with couples who value thoughtful planning, beautiful design, exceptional hospitality and attention to detail. I am based in Lisbon and regularly work throughout Portugal, as well as internationally.

Do you work with international couples?

Yes. Many of my couples live outside the country where they are getting married, and I am very comfortable working across different time zones, cultures and expectations. My role is to bring structure, local knowledge and trusted relationships to the planning process, while making sure the experience remains personal and enjoyable for you.

Do you plan weddings outside Portugal?

Yes. Although Portugal is my home and one of my main destinations, I also take on international celebrations. For weddings outside Portugal, I bring the same approach to planning, creative direction, vendor management and production, adapting to the destination and the team involved.

Will I work directly with Sofia?

Yes. I remain personally involved throughout the planning process and lead the relationship with every couple. As the wedding approaches, I work with a carefully selected team and trusted professionals to ensure that every element is delivered to the standard we have established together.

How many weddings do you take each year?

I intentionally take on a limited number of celebrations each year. This allows me to remain closely involved in each project and to give the planning, details and relationships the attention they deserve.

Planning & production

Do you offer full wedding planning?

Yes. Full Planning & Production is the core of Sofia Gama Events. I take responsibility for the planning process from the early stages through to the wedding itself, including venue and supplier management, budget, logistics, timelines, guest experience, creative direction and on-site production. My involvement does not stop at creating the concept. I believe strongly in seeing the ideas through to their execution.

Do you only provide wedding design?

No. While creative direction is an important part of my work, I do not offer design as a standalone service. I prefer to oversee the planning and production process as a whole, because this allows me to maintain the level of quality, consistency and attention to detail that I want associated with Sofia Gama Events. For me, a beautiful concept only works when it is thoughtfully and correctly brought to life.

Can you help if we have already started planning?

Yes, depending on where you are in the process. Some couples come to me at the very beginning, while others already have a venue or some suppliers in place. I will assess what has already been arranged and what is still required before determining how I can best take the planning forward.

Can we choose our own vendors?

Of course. I am happy to work with suppliers you already know or have chosen, provided they are appropriate for the level and requirements of the celebration. I also have an established network of professionals whose work I know and trust, and I make recommendations based on the project, your priorities and the experience we want to create.

Investment

What is your investment for full planning?

Full Planning & Production begins at €12,000. Every celebration is different, so the final investment depends on the scope, complexity, number of events, destination and level of involvement required.

Why do you work with a full planning model?

I believe the quality of a wedding depends not only on the ideas behind it, but on how carefully those ideas are planned, coordinated and executed. By overseeing the process as a whole, I can take responsibility for the details and maintain consistency from the initial planning stages through to the final production. This is important to me because every wedding I produce represents my name and my work.

Your celebration

Do you help with venue selection?

Yes. If you have not yet selected a venue, I can help identify and assess options according to the atmosphere you want to create, logistics, guest experience, accommodation, accessibility and the overall requirements of the celebration.

Do you plan wedding weekends?

Yes. I regularly work with celebrations that extend beyond the wedding day, including welcome events, rehearsal dinners, farewell gatherings and other experiences for your guests.

Do you manage the wedding day itself?

Yes. On the wedding day, I oversee the production and coordinate the team and suppliers involved, ensuring that the plans, timings and details are carried through as intended. The goal is for you to experience the celebration rather than manage it.

Do you work with destination weddings only?

No. Although destination weddings are a significant part of my work, I also plan celebrations for couples getting married closer to home.

What matters most to me is creating a celebration that is personal, beautifully considered and produced to a high standard.

The process

When should we get in touch?

For destination weddings, I recommend enquiring 12 to 18 months in advance whenever possible. For particularly sought-after dates, venues or multi-day celebrations, earlier planning can be beneficial. That said, if your date is closer, please still get in touch. Availability varies from year to year.

What happens after I enquire?

I will review your date, location, guest count and initial plans. If I feel we could be a good fit, we will arrange an initial conversation to understand your celebration, what you are looking for and where you are in the planning process. From there, I will prepare a proposal based on the requirements of your celebration.

Do you work with a limited number of weddings?

Yes. I deliberately limit the number of celebrations I take on each year. This allows me to remain personally involved, maintain close relationships with my couples and give every project the attention to detail I believe it deserves.

What if we are not sure where to start?

That is completely fine. You do not need to have everything figured out before getting in touch. Tell me what you have in mind, what you have already arranged and what you feel you need help with. We can determine together whether Sofia Gama Events is the right fit for your celebration and how I can best support you.

A final thought

What is the Sofia Gama Events approach?

I believe a wedding should be more than a beautiful collection of details. It should feel cohesive, personal and effortless, with every element considered and every decision contributing to the experience. My background in luxury fashion has given me a strong eye for aesthetics and detail. Years of planning and producing weddings have taught me that the most beautiful ideas only matter when they are thoughtfully executed. That is why I choose to oversee the planning and production process as a whole. It allows me to protect the quality of the work, the experience of my couples and the standard that I want Sofia Gama Events to represent.
